Heels over head – how to go upside down in yoga

Join Jodie for a very special 2hr workshop to get you going upside-down and rediscover the joy in life. Come back to your inner child and have fun while we learn how to prepare, prop and go upside-down. We will cover all the ‘stands’- headstand, shoulderstand, forearm stand, handstand, even chinstand

Learn how to warm up and prepare the body and the mind through informed sequencing, myofascial release and fun drills. Take off in ways you never thought possible, and take the key points off the mat and into your heart. The energetics of the poses, and what we get from them- playfulness, curiosity, groundedness, fear-facing and more.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn classic inversions as well as modifications using props.
  • Safe and effective alignment principles for building an inversion practice.
  • Discover ways to modify inversions using blocks and other yoga props.
  • Melt tension with myofascial release
  • Gain clarity, patience, poise, balance, and strength!

Who can attend?

The Heels over head workshop is ideal for students who are generally fit and healthy***. Whether you are ‘nearly’ ready to come into inversions, or new to the postures. Or are simply curious to find out more about being upside down. If you are a regular practitioner of these poses, you will learn how to bring more depth and variety to your inversions, such as different entries and exits.

***6 months of previous yoga practice is suggested, and ability to hold plank and crow

What if I can’t come into shoulder-stand or headstand pose just yet?

Then this workshop is ideal for you! Once you begin to understand the key muscle groups and what areas to warm up, you’re on your way.  You will learn to work safely with alternative movements. And gradually master yoga techniques to help you understand and practice the poses. It’s an explorative workshop, and you can pick up new tips and ideas to improve your skills.

Costs: 40€ (USC/ Wellpass +30€) in English.
